Sanguinaria canadensis (Bloodroot)

Sun: Partial to full shade

Flowers: White

Water: Moist, humusy soils

 

Bright, short-lived, white, 2" flowers bloom in early spring. Spreads to fom colonies through rhizomes. Goes dormant in mid-to-late summer. Reddish-orange sap "bleeds" when plant is cut.
