Our reclamation of a lawn began in 2019 . We started by eliminating part of the grass, then planted a cover crop mix of native plants from seed and some anchor natives to quickly build a landscape. We put down hay to stabilize the seed through the fall rains and winter snows. The result should be a vibrant meadow to ease the transition from house to lawn to forest that will support wildlife and add beauty to the yard.

 

This project is in the first of a multiple-year process, so the progress posted here is to give an idea of scale, not of completion.
